What gets you out of the bed in the morning,
or at 2 AM when your baby needs his diaper changed?
What causes you to be giving when you have a laundry list of needs and desires of your own?
What allows you to step out in faith when everything that you can see and hear says you are “out of your mind?”
What compels you to love your spouse when you aren’t feeling it in the moment?
What causes you to submit in obedience when the temptations are so strong within you?
What frees you to stand with truth when truth could not be less popular?
What allows you to respond in grace and forgiveness when your instincts say reconciliation is the farthest from what you care to strive for?
What motivates you to participate in a local church body every week?
Our answer to these questions must go beyond what feels right, or we even know is right.
Think about this… What motivates you as a Christian to have an eagerness to act in a way that is so against what your natural desires used to be?
“For Christ’s love compels us, because we are convinced that one died for all, and therefore all died. And he died for all, that those who live should no longer live for themselves but for him who died for them and was raised again.” 2 Corinthians 5:14-15
We no longer live for ourselves, but we live to please our Father in heaven.
Who we are and EVERYTHING we do is how we worship our Savior.
Our “why” is worship for our King whose love abounds into our salvation – into our LIFE!
So what is your why? What is leading you?
Is it love for our Father and all that is near to His heart?
Whenever you answer no to this question, ask God in prayer to change your heart and realign your desires to His. Read all of 2 Corinthians 5 and see how Christ turns the world upside down with His life giving love.
Walk in His love, and His love will become the answer to all of your whys.
