If there’s one thing
I keep learning and keep being reminded of in my spiritual life, it’s of the comfort that Scripture brings. Of the sweetness of a timely word (Prov. 15:23).

I keep learning this because, well, I keep forgetting… Until a timely word comes my way again. I would argue that little else brings the comfort and encouragement like Scripture can bring to you when you need it most.

Life has hurled some curveballs recently (ok this whole year has been just one big curve ball 🙃 but that’s besides the point I’m trying to make!) and I’m guilty of getting so caught up in what’s going on, and what’s going wrong, that I begin to forget even the most basic scriptural truths. Even when turning to Him in scripture, sometimes I read a passage or concept that I’m so familiar with that I quickly glaze over it.

But friend, take a moment to consider this word that the angel Gabriel repeatedly brought to Daniel in Daniel 9 and 10: You are greatly loved.

If you’re like me who sometimes goes on autopilot, you may have breezed right past that statement. Don’t.
Read that again: You are greatly loved.
Sit in that for a moment.

You are greatly loved just as you are.

Greatly loved before you ever drew a breath.

Greatly loved when you are afraid.

Greatly loved when you are angry with God.

Greatly loved when you keep slipping up.

Whatever your current mental state, physical location, where you are or where you have been on your spiritual journey, YOU ARE GREATLY LOVED

Take comfort in that, dear Christian. Let this truth stir up a greater love for Him. Don’t take it for granted. Don’t misuse it. Allow it to cultivate a deeper love and a more committed relationship with our Heavenly Father.

God isn’t quitting on you. He deeply, deeply loves you.
